It’s Thankful Thursday! Today I am thankful that I learned some lessons earlier in life rather than later.
I wrote about this not that long ago and it is still on my mind today so I am posting a few excerpts. (if you want to read the full article click here) I believe we don’t remember days we remember moments. We remember words that someone has spoken, a smile, a hug, a thoughtful gift and the joy that comes with it, a hello and a goodbye. We learn lessons in those moments like how great it feels to give, how a smile can totally change your day, just how much stamina you have in a crisis, what love is when you hold a newborn child or say goodbye to a loved one at the end of their journey. So today I will share with you the lessons I have learned and that I try very hard to remember when I feel a nudge in my heart to hold this particular moment close. Today I am thankful for these lessons even though they may come on the coattails heartache.
Love is a verb and not a noun
Live in the moment, even the bad ones
You make your own choices, own them
Guilt is a waste of time
Sometimes there are no answers to the why question
Words do not always have to be spoken, the other persons heart can hear
Not just one thing defines who you are
A hug is the best gift you could ever give or receive
Never give up on the ones you love
Say sorry quickly and often
Sometimes tough love is necessary
When life gets to hard to stand, kneel and pray
We cannot fix everything
Every moment you have breath is a blessing to someone else
It is hard to live in the moment as we are so busy with daily activities and responsibilities, but learning to slow down even just a bit would do us all some good. I have never seen a grave stone with engraved words that say being busy was my ultimate goal in life. Listen to your heart, remember the lessons you have learned so that you will stay in the moment as that is where your ultimate happiness will come from. Tomorrow has enough worry of it’s own and yesterday cannot be changed…live for today.
Make a list of the lessons you have learned and hang them up where you can see them everyday to remind you of all those moments that touched you in a profound way. Happy Thankful Thursday!
