Today is Thankful Thursday and words come to mind. Without them, I would be lost.
This week has been one of many days of heartache for me with news of cancer and suicide. No, not for me personally, but for ones I know and love and those words are earth shattering, overwhelming, defining, life changing and get on your knees prayer changing. When I heard these things and I honestly have to say that sadness and tears took over. I would then have to say that if words could change any of the circumstances, I would write a novel to fix them. Words.
Today I am thankful for my family that is near me, my family that lives afar, my friends that stand by me through thick and thin, and all my friends that I have made in the virtual world of social media. I know in my heart that I would be no where without my friends whether they sit in my living room at home or in the virtual living room of Facebook, Skype, Twitter or emails. One can most definitely draw strength from words of others, gain perspective on a situation or even just know that someone is listening on the other end of the couch or the text. Words are powerful at each end of the spectrum; they can build you up or cut you down. So whether those words are on paper or flow through your lips, please say them carefully as the person on the other end needs you. Words.
Today I will also remember that Sunday is the anniversary of 9/11 and I like many of us will never forget that day. Our world was forever changed on the fateful day as the words we now hear more often are terrorism, hatred, security, safety, bombs, death, evil and fear. These words are not ones any of us want to hear, but they are real as the images unfolded on television in front of our eyes. I was not there. My heart was there and my words were prayers. I continue to pray for them, their families and this country. However, there were great words that came with that horrific tragedy also and they are unity, strength, sacrifice, love, kindness, resilience ,charity, generosity, goodwill and love for one another. Our country came together in a way I have never seen before and words became poems, prayers and songs. My words are of thankfulness to those that sacrificed it all for the love of another. Never forget what happened that day. Words.
Today may my words bring comfort, hope, love and an all knowing peace from above to those that are in need. Words.
