A Country Picnic on the Templeton Common ~ Tuesday Girl, what’s all this about?

How about just a few hours of slowing down and forgetting all your cares and worries for the day, enjoying each other’s company, some great music, games for the kids, a picnic lunch and your blanket? Wouldn’t it be nice to meet your next door neighbor or for that matter more neighbors in your hometown? Did you know that in the beginnings of our little town each fall on the Common the townsfolk would have a country fair so they could exchange some crops, share stories and laughs, meet their neighbors and neighbors from other towns before the winter set in and life got a little bit more secluded?

Tuesday Girl enjoys getting out and about and meeting my neighbors! What better way to meet so many of you at once than sharing lunch with you all! I believe that we live in this great, historical small town because we all chose to be here so why not get together and share in the spirit of community and say hello to your current neighbors and get to know some new ones. I encourage you to come on Saturday from 11:30 to 2:30 and celebrate the coming of our 250th anniversary and wander through the historical society, go out back in the gardens and have some family photographs taken my RT2 Photography.   Take a stroll across the street for a visit to the First Church of Templeton and learning their history and viewing all the recent updates to preserve the church that helped incorporate our great town.

There will be a Templeton250 table with T-Shirts, sweatshirts, wine, calendars, keepsake boxes and more for you to purchase and help raise funds for next years celebrations. There will be a 50/50 raffle and Eddie the Magician will wander the crowd and Grin Whistle will entertain you from the bandstand!  Across the common on Boyton Street there will be all kinds of kids games for young ones and also the young adults. There will be parking behind the Templeton Center School in the field.

I cannot thank enough Gail Whittle and the Templeton250 committee for supporting the idea of a Country Picnic and also the picnic committee; Kristen Meunier, Jody Winters, Bruce Bernard, Paul Jones, Molly Brooks and Charlie Carroll for all their energy and resources in putting it together. I am grateful to Chief Whittaker for the support of the police department and donation of their time, to Alan Mayo for his enthusiasm and clean up and set up of the Common, to Scott at Scotties Potties for their donation, to the First Church and Historical Society for their input and support and to all the local businesses and our town offices that hung up signs and passed out flyers and… last but never least, to the towns people I spoke to that can’t wait to come out and bring with them their sense of community and pride for our great little town of Templeton.

Tuesday Girl says…please come on out and enjoy our 1st Annual Templeton Country Picnic and this time of reliving the past and slowing down the pace for a few hours. I can’t wait to meet you all!
