Tuesday Girl's Writing Legacy ~ The Hilltowner

  • Sharebar

Hear Ye, Hear Ye ~ Tuesday Girl is not the only writer in the family!

Apparently, it’s been passed down to me from the older generation ~ my Dad (since you just celebrated a birthday I just had to use that word).  The Hilltowner was the newspaper for my father’s class.  Different items would be printed in various editions, but for this one, which my father believes was from 1954 or 1955, his class was asked to write an essay about their favorite Christmas and the editors decided to print Martin’s.

Even without this class newspaper, I have heard this story from my father and what that meant to him and how it impacted him to give his mother an electric coffee pot.  History isn’t just about studying the past, it is about fact, stories and legacies being passed down from generation to generation.  I am thrilled that my father showed me the newspaper and now I can share it with you.

I will venture to guess there is someone on the Tuesdays in Templeton Fan Page that will recognize or ask a parent about the The Hilltowner~and really ~ isn’t that the whole idea of sharing our history?  Tuesday Girl thinks so!

Enjoy the articles, step back in time and imagine what it was like to be sitting in the schoolhouse writing these stories and/or essays as a young person in our wonderful town of Templeton.  And yes, Tuesday Girl loves daydreaming….

This document may be hard to read when you first open it, but if you click on it again the document will be enlarged more and when you move your mouse around you can read it that way!
