How do you work with your local businesses and entrepreneurs as a Realtor and neighbor?
Doing business locally has always been my motto and it works. Supporting your area businesses can come easy when you walk down the street and waltz into the pizza place, bakery, coffee shop, farmstand…you get my point. I enjoy shopping in my hometown and seeing our business owners and my neighbors. We swap stories of family and school
and weddings and baby showers and just life in general. I love blogging about them to help advertise their product and share with my readers where the business came from and who the owners are, among other tidbits. Blogging has been a real treat for me because~A~I love to write (like you couldn’t tell) ~B~I have a sit down meeting and get to know the shop owners on a business and personal level and ~C~ when the piece is finished and I publish it, they have all been so gracious and appreciative and when I visit again it’s like we have been forever friends. What better way to build relationships and business for each of us.
I believe that it helps me to get out there AND have a purpose and not just sit behind my desk, talk on the phone, push around paper, write and answer emails, read all my news and feeds, write newsletters etc. Not that those things are not important, but being out in the community improves my sense of how things are going and getting my thumb on the pulse, what their needs might be, what their customers are saying and that always seems to translate to new ideas for me and them to build on. My clients can only benefit from my being involved and “in the know” about what’s going on around town, where to find items they are looking for and to be a great referral source.
I think it is harder to find entrepreneurs that are “home based” in my town and beyond unless they are really doing alot of advertising. I have been seeking these businesses out and partnering with these incredible small business owners and sharing ideas and also referrals! I use REM Design for my advertising; like the Tuesday Girl logo that Rebecca designed from scratch, business cards, bumper stickers and more ~ and when I give gifts to my clients at
closing, I may give a Pampered Chef product so, I have partnered with Linda Robison and she always has great ideas for the gift giving and has been a constant source of referrals. I cannot thank either one of them enough for all they have done for me! I have other entrepreneurs that have been referred to me to blog about also and I am working on that.
I am committed to finding more small business owners to partner with, seek out more of our local businesses to blog and advertise for and be a solid part of my community. I am going to branch out to other towns also because as much as I love my Templeton, no one lives in a bubble. At the end of the day, I know I have been enriched by my blogs and by meeting all these great people. I thank them for taking time with me and thinking of me when someone needs help with real estate.

Tuesday Girl, you are so right! All the social media marketing and high tech tools in the world will not replace the relationships that are you develop F2F (Face to Face). A smart realtor name Nikki Beauchamp in NYC told me that while she may meet people online — and there is a place for #ff’s on Twitter, and all the rest — she always makes time for F2F Fridays. Smart lady!
