Wind Turbine Templeton MA

I came home on Monday to see our incredible wind turbine in motion and it stopped my car in it’s tracks~thank goodness no one was behind me becaue we joke all the time that one of these days that windmill is going to cause an accident in front of our house~glad it wasn’t me this time!

I think it is the neatest thing to be able to sit outside on my deck and watch it spin. I know some don’t like it and many are ecstatic about it, but the fact that we have one and the kids are watching this historical event unfold on their school grounds is definately and plus in my book.

They are still testing it out and it is on and off during the day and then it seems to spin most of the night.  Elijah told me on Monday while they were at football practice down on field (where it’s located) all of a sudden everyone stopped what they were doing to look up because he said you could hear a hum and then ~ whoooshh….whoooooshhh….whoooshhhh…it was cool and everyone was amazed.

I am very excited about our windmill and cannot wait to see it spinning full time and saving us some energy.  Thank you to everyone that put all this hard work into making this dream a reality!

Of course  I took a very brief video for you from the vantage points of the street just before my driveway, my yard and also the school parking lot ~ ENJOY!

Hi , It looks small from up here on the hill especially being a alternative energy person. (While I was teaching I.A. at ‘Gansett in ’84 the class built a Savonius rotor wind turbine w/material donated by Van Huffle /Kirk Eastern. We took it to the Fitchburg State College Project fair ) The tech is so much better now and the need is so great.. I look at it daily..It is so much better then the ominous sight of the dome of a nuclear plant or the oil in the Gulf. Yet there are various rumors……. is it producing ??
Anne Gobi’s site had some good info and pix awhile back I’m going to check there .. In any Case our hats off to John LeClerc the person that Energized this project w/ his students… Mike

I am a new resident of this fine town of Templeton and I am VERY proud to see the wonderful wind turbine generating some savings to my Family’s electric bill. We have needed financial relief for many months one our electric bill (the size of the savings is not the main issue we are just happy for any amount that is possible!) I did have a question though, is there a plan with the town Father’s to put in a SECOND one in the town like they have in the city of Gardner, MA? I know that my family would love to see more of these around the area if at all possible! Thanks.

I also am in love with the Town of Templeton. I don’t mind seeing the huge structure towering over the school either. But I find this notion of “I don’t know if it saves any money but it sure makes me feel good about myself” just plain ignorant. I love the outdoors and everything that is nature, but I am not willing to forego common sense and deductive reasoning to come to the ridiculous conclusion that this is about anything other than ideological fantasy. I would like to see the actual cost savings versus total cost including maintenance, life expectancy etc. I have seen others, and the result was that the turbines would not even pay for themselves over their expected lifetime. Does that sound smart to anyone? Spain took the lead to pioneer so called “green” infrastructure, and now it is being exposed for the disastrous lie that it is. I have nothing against hugging trees, that’s free. But government subsidies are taxpayer dollars being wasted as usual.
